In collaboration with the FOPH and all the organisations which are involved in transplantation medicine, we have achieved that the number of deceased donors, thanks to the new law and the good results within the second term in 2007 respectively, has remained stable..
Nevertheless, in 2007 50 patients waiting for an organ died, as no organ could have been found in due time.
As you can see in the following figures, transplantation medicine fell victim to it’s own success, and therefore the number of patients waiting for an organ and beeing listed has increased.
Our ambition for 2008 is to boost the development within donorwork, so that an increasing number of transplanted patients can gain a new life or at least some quality of life through donation.
