R.I., 48 YEARS OLD, HEART TRANSPLANTED

Ms Isenschmid received a new heart four years ago. After what seemed like a normal cold that lasted a bit long, she suddenly ended up in the hospital. There, doctors determined that she had acute coronary disease which would necessitate a heart transplant.

While she was waiting in the hospital's intensive care unit for a donor heart, it turned out that besides being very ill, Ms Isenschmid was also very much in love. She chose to marry and she and her husband literally "exchanged hearts".

"When I go to bed at night, I feel my heart beating in my chest and I feel like it is gently rocking me to sleep." (quotation from Ms Isenschmid)
