Ivana R., born 2009. The girl from the canton of St. Gallen received a new heart in the spring of 2013.
“Ivana R. came into the world with a heart defect. She had to take dozens of types of medication every day. She wasn’t allowed to play with other children because of the risk of infection, and since she was too weak to feed herself she had to be fed intravenously. Three years ago, she survived 45 minutes of cardiac arrest. Since spring 2013, Ivana has been living with a new heart. She is doing very well. When you ask her how she’s feeling, she beams and points to her chest – where her new heart is beating.”
