Nella maggior parte dei paesi dell’Europa occidentale vige il modello del consenso presunto. Ad esempio in Austria, Francia, Italia, Spagna, Portogallo, Belgio, Paesi Bassi e Gran Bretagna. In Svizzera, il consenso presunto in senso lato entrerà in vigore non prima del 2027.
Anzahl spendende verstorbene Personen pro Million Einwohnende (pmp) in der Schweiz für das Jahr 2025 und in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern für das Jahr 2024 (Quelle: Council of Europe. Als spendende Person gilt jede verstorbene Person, bei der ein chirurgischer Eingriff mit der Absicht zur Organentnahme zum Zweck einer Transplantation erfolgt ist.
